BFGoodrich / L3Harris WX-1000E Stormscope Processor Unit

The WX-1000E  Stormscope Processor is a remote-mounted avionics computer designed to process real-time lightning and atmospheric discharge data. It receives raw electromagnetic signals from the external loop antenna, calculates the precise distance and bearing of convective storm cells, and streams organized weather mapping data to cockpit multi-function displays or primary EFIS panels.

Description

This unit has been bench tested by an FAA certified repair station and it comes with an 8130 single release dated 7/21/2026.
Key Technical Capabilities
  • Advanced EFIS Integration: Features integrated ARINC 429 and high-speed serial data bus interfaces, allowing the processor to overlay lightning strike data directly onto modern moving-map displays and Electronic Flight Instrument Systems.
  • Heading Stabilization Compatibility: Automatically accepts input from onboard gyros and Attitude Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) to stabilize the weather display during aircraft turns and bank maneuvers.
  • Long-Range Detection Array: Computes and categorizes electrical discharges simultaneously across user-selectable tracking scales up to a 200 nautical mile operational radius.
  • Multi-Scale Data Retention: Continuously acquires and buffers lightning strike metrics across all range profiles simultaneously, enabling instant display updates whenever the pilot shifts tracking scales.
  • Textron and Turbine Airframe Fitment: Certified and structurally approved for high-performance turboprops and light corporate jets, including the Pilatus PC-12 fleet, where it mounts securely inside a remote equipment bay tray assembly.
