Bendix / King KN-63 Remote DME Transceiver

This is a remote-mounted, solid-state system designed to calculate real-time aircraft spacing metrics. Installed away from the main panel, this 200-channel unit operates by sending interrogating radio signals to ground stations to precisely compute line-of-sight distance. This specific model variant features an integrated internal harmonic filter required for compliance across multiple international regulatory airspaces.

Description

This unit has been bench tested by an FAA certified repair station and it comes with an 8130 single release dated 7/21/2026.

Key Technical Capabilities
  • Harmonic Signal Filtering: Built specifically with an upgraded internal harmonic filter assembly. This addition suppresses out-of-band frequency emissions, meeting mandatory operational safety requirements in several international zones, including parts of Europe.
  • Wide-Range Voltage Input: Features an internal power regulation circuit that allows the unit to run on any nominal DC input from 11 to 33 volts without needing auxiliary voltage converters or inline power adapters.
  • Solid-State Transmitter Output: Utilizes an all-solid-state transmitter architecture that delivers a reliable 100-watt nominal power output while drawing a modest 17 watts of power during ongoing flight operation.
  • Digital Synthesizer Tuning: All 200 channels are managed electronically via a single-crystal, digital frequency synthesizer. This design removes moving mechanical parts from the receiver, reducing long-term component wear and frequency drift.
  • Flexible Interfacing Options: Designed to stream distance, ground speed, and time-to-station data simultaneously to panel-mounted master display instruments like the BendixKing KDI-572 or integrated flight deck multi-function systems.
